Crossing the border Chile-Argentina by bus with the most beautiful Andes view
The most beautiful journey in a bus that we've ever had... Since Chile is a very narrow country the way to the border to Argentina isn't too far. BUT of course you have to cross the Andes. The road is lonely and dangerous - there have already been severe accidents - but you have the most beautiful view you could imagine. We didn't dare to close our eyes because we were afraid we would miss something. It's a whole different world only consisting of nature and silence.

Cordillera and the Andes - longest mountain chain on earth
The cordillera is a chain of mountain ranges in america. They reach from Alaska to Fireland and so they are the longest mountain chain on earth. After centralamerica the cordillera is getting the famous name "andes". It is also the backbone of the famous "ring of fire".
The word comes from the spanisch "cordillera", which is the diminutive form of the latin "corda" (= rope). So the spanish "rope out of mountains" is a synonym to the word "mountain chain" in english.
